Primrose Hill

Primrose Hill is the jewel of North Lincolnshire Scouts, a marvelous area of woodland and open space ideal for camping and all-things Scouting.

Primrose Hill is the jewel of North Lincolnshire Scouts, a marvelous area of woodland and open space ideal for camping and all-things Scouting.

Situated just a couple of miles outside Scunthorpe close to the M180 motorway, Primrose Hill is extremely popular at all times of the year and is used by local groups, for district and county events, by groups from other districts from within Humberside scouting county, and by groups from other counties much further afield.

Access is easy along two woodland tracks, with ample parking making the site suitable for events of up to 500 participants.

Adventurer and Scouting Ambassador Steve Backshall was also able to drop in by helicopter for a district event in 2016.

Development over the past few years now allows us to offer visitors the choice of two refurbished huts (St Vincent’s and Nelthorpe) for hire which are ideal for overnight stays or bases for your camp cooking.

Groups must provide their own gas (butane/propane) and hook-ups are provided should you wish to take along a generator.

Primrose Hill has two campfire circles, toilet and waste-disposal facilities, and we are pleased to offer several activities for which we can provide instructors if necessary.

These are:

  • Archery
  • Air Rifle Shooting
  • Crate Stacking
  • Pedal go-karts
  • Pioneering Poles

Our woodland is suitable for orienteering events.

Altar fires are available throughout the site and water stand-pipes are situated conveniently.
