Duke of Edinburgh Bronze
By achieving your DofE Bronze Award, you've shown extended commitment to volunteering, developing a skill and improving your fitness, developing resilience and teamwork, especially in the expedition element! Within Scouting, the DofE Bronze links directly to the Chief Scout's Platinum Award so it's great to enrol to both awards, it's effectively a 'two for one' offering!
How to earn your award:
You must be 14+ to enrol in the DofE Programme
If you aren’t 14 yet but are in the school year in which your peer group turn fourteen, you may be able to start a Bronze DofE programme - check with your DofE Leader.
For each of the 3 sections (see below in the timescales) you must complete a minimum of an hour a week per section. There are endless possibilities as to what you can do for each section, but you may choose to volunteer in the Beaver Colony in your Scout group each week, develop your fitness by going cycling every week, and learn how to play a new instrument, but its totally up to you!
Timescales:
- Volunteering: 3 Months
- Physical: 3 Months
- Skills: 3 Months
- Expedition: 2 Days & 1 Night
- Plus an extra 3 months of either volunteering, physical or skills. Essentially, you must do 6 months for one section and 3 months for the other two, and that's totally up to you!
