Landscaping & clearance at Primrose Hill pond

looking good

Excavation work has begun at Primrose Hill to clear overgrowth and create landscaping to improve the pond area for conservation and nature activities.

ADC Scouts and Warden David Bradley said: "End of day two and it's already beyond my expectations. The machine and driver have come to us at no cost from the industrial engineering company Harsco."

Although the heavy earthworks are almost complete, there remains much hard work to do involving seeding, planting trees, and clearing a lot of the pond of weed the excavator could not reach.

As soon as much of the water was cleared, there was an immediate increase in the number of water fowl visiting the pond.

When complete the pond area will be an ideal place for bird-watching plus pond-dipping for our young visitors and their leaders.
