International

Scouting takes place in 216 countries, with a total membership of over 31 million people. International Scouting is an important part of the programme for all members of Scouting. This doesn't mean everyone has to go abroad to experience it, it could be about making links with other international groups, or simply finding out about Scouting in another country.

Scouts around the world!...

Scouting takes place in 216 countries, with a total membership of over 31 million people. International Scouting is an important part of the programme for all members of Scouting. This doesn't mean everyone has to go abroad to experience it, it could be about making links with other international groups, or simply finding out about Scouting in another country.

International Scouting has been a big part of the programme for some time. The first world Scout Jamboree was held in London in 1920, It was after that, that our founder Baden Powell had a dream about a place where all Scouts from all over the world could meet: and have a permanent mini jamboree. His dream came true and now we have an international Scout Centre which is located in Kandersteg, Switzerland.

Upcoming International Jamborees...

World Scout Moot 2025- Portugal

The World Scout Moot is an international gathering of over 5,000 Scouts aged 18 to 25 years old from around the world, coming together to share cultures, learn from each other and gain new skills.

Every four years, the Moot takes place in a different host country. The first Moot took place in 1931 in Switzerland, and most recently was hosted by Iceland in 2017.

Participant experience at a Moot is split into two halves, the first half is a 'Path', exploring the host country in a patrol made up of Scouts from different nationalities. The second half is an on-site Jamboree-style camp along joining up with all the other participants.

The next Moot will take place in Portugal from 25 July to 3 August 2025, and Scouts intends to organise a UK National Contingent of several hundred members, to prepare for and travel to this event.

World Scout Jamboree 2027- Poland

The 26th World Scout Jamboree is scheduled to take place in Poland from 30 July to 8 August 2027, bringing together Scouts from all over the globe for a unique celebration of unity, adventure, and shared learning.

The first Jamboree was held at Olympia, London in 1920. Since then, the Jamboree has taken place roughly every four years, bringing 14-17 year olds together from all around the World. Providing an opportunity for young people to share their cultures, learn about the world around them and participate in a variety of activities.

The event takes place every four years, and a different country hosts the event and its participants. In the Summer of 2023, over 4,500 Scouts and Guides from across the UK made their way to Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree.
